The second part of the text focuses on the situation in Serbia during the period of social transition after the Milosevic era, and the results of gender policies in practice. The notion of representation of women's interests is one of the crucial problem that engages the attention of researchers in this area. Especially, the functioning of political parties and their impact in promoting the nomination of women to political office are cnsidered.
The impact of soocial, political, psychological and cultural factors on women's participation in political life and the obstacles that women face in their political career. In the first section the different theoretical approaches and research results are discussed on political participation of women in developed democracies predominantly in Anglo-Saxon areas.
